We are an organization based in New Jersey dedicated to advocating for immigrant children’s educational rights and providing support for ELLs. We are currently operating The Conversation Starters Program with Family Touch under their Big Brother Big Sister initiative. Learn more on our Home Page.

Recent initiatives include:

  1. Hosting a multilingual poetry contest in collaboration with a youth-led literary magazine, Vellichor Literary (87k+ subscribers) to create a platform for multicultural & immigrant voices.     • metamorphosis (i try to remember) by Katherine Zhao: Katherine is a 17-year-old artist and writer from New York who serves as Editor-in Chief of the Chromatic Scars Review. She has won multiple accolades for her work, including multiple Gold/Silver Keys from the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, finalist designations in the New York Poet Laureate and Nancy Thorp Poetry ‘cibtests, and a first place win in the Wildlife Forever Art Contest. Her work can be found in the Blue Marble Review, the Incandescent Review, the Eyre Magazine, the WEIGHT Journal, and many more.
    • home is where the heart is by Elysse: Elysse is a 14-year-old lesbian cat enthusiast living in Singapore. While ethnically Chinese, she was born in Hong Kong and lives in Singapore, where she goes to an international high school, resulting in a vibrant blend of language and culture. Elysse aspires to be an actress and wants to use her artistic talents to raise wareness for many pressing issues, especially mental health and queer youth. Instagram: @elyssewritings
    • Salad Bowl by Maryam Attique: Maryam is a 17 year old living in the depths of South Asia inside Pakistan. Apart from being incredibly good at finishing whole pints of ice cream, she wrote her first peice of poetry in 5th grade – which was, unsurprisingly, about ice cream. Since then, her poetry journey continues in the forms of assembly speeches and her poetry account on Instagram. Instagram: @mangosmetaphors
  2. Running fundraiser to collect bilingual children’s books for immigrant children in refugee centers. A big thank you to Oradell Public Library for allowing us to use their space as a collection zone, and the Roosevelt Elementary School PTO for sending email blasts and social media posts to advertise our book drive!
  3. Conducting an interview with an ESL specialist to learn what immigrant children are lacking in the classroom and what we can do to help. Thank you to Roosevelt’s Mariana Marinich for your insight and advice!
